My Leadership Philosophy

Health and safety leadership extends beyond achieving legal compliance. Throughout my career I have sought to influence organisations to integrate occupational safety and health into strategic planning, governance and day-to-day operational decision-making. I believe effective leadership is demonstrated through integrity, collaboration, accountability and the ability to influence others to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.

Leading by Example

As a Senior CDM Principal Designer and Health & Safety Consultant, I lead by example by promoting the Principles of Prevention, encouraging collaborative working and challenging decisions that could compromise the safety of workers, building users or the public. I work closely with clients, designers, Principal Contractors and multidisciplinary teams to identify risks early, develop practical solutions and ensure health and safety is considered throughout the project lifecycle rather than as a compliance exercise.

Influence and Strategic Leadership

My leadership extends beyond technical advice. I regularly influence senior stakeholders, facilitate design risk reviews, chair coordination meetings and support organisations in embedding effective health and safety governance into business operations. By communicating clearly, listening to different perspectives and providing proportionate, evidence-based advice, I help organisations make informed decisions that balance legal compliance, operational objectives and commercial priorities.
